Anti-harassment Policy

The Discworld Convention is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable experience for everyone. Harassment of any kind, either before, during or after the Convention will not be tolerated.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to, unwelcome attention, verbal harassment, sexual harassment, deliberate intimidation, stalking, or unwanted physical contact - let alone physical assault or battery.  It also includes harassment, intimidation and other inappropriate behaviours on social media or other forms of communication.  To avoid misunderstandings, explicitly ask for people's permission when interacting with them. For instance, ask if you can sit with them or if you can take their picture, and respect their wishes if they decline.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, feel your safety has been compromised or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the Convention Committee immediately.

Before or after the Convention please contact us via info@dwcon.org or chair@dwcon.org. During the Convention Go To Ops or look out for one of the distinctive polo shirts worn by the Committee. If you cannot find a Committee member, or Go To Ops, please find a member of the hotel’s staff and ask them to contact a member of the Convention Committee.

Your reports of harassment or similar activity will be recorded and the Chair will be informed. The Convention Committee will discuss the situation internally, as well as with any relevant parties, and a decision will then be made on what action is to be taken.

Convention participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the Convention at the discretion of the Convention Committee.

In addition to dealing with the harassment quickly and decisively ourselves, Convention staff will provide full cooperation and assistance to members by helping contact hotel security and/or the Police, providing escorts, or otherwise help those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the convention.
